Integrative, relational, and grounded in your growth as a clinician.

A Supervisory Space Built for Depth

Clinical supervision at Lumara Integrative Health is a reflective, relational process designed to support your development as a clinician and your presence in the room with clients. Whether you are navigating licensure requirements, deepening a therapeutic stance, or building a sustainable private practice in Illinois, supervision here offers a space to slow down, get curious, and grow with care.

This is not checkbox supervision. It is a space to attune to what unfolds between you and your clients, to notice what lingers or resonates after sessions, and to develop the clinical confidence and ethical clarity that come from being genuinely supported. If you are looking for clinical supervision in Chicago or anywhere in Illinois, Lumara offers a model rooted in integration, not just compliance.

Supervision Approach

Supervision at Lumara is grounded in clinical expertise and a deep respect for your development as a whole clinician. Rather than defaulting to a single orientation, our work together draws from multiple frameworks to match where you are in your training and what your caseload demands.

Evidence-based integration. Supporting skill development in CBT, ACT, DBT, IPT, and other modalities alongside deeper reflective work, so that technique and relational presence develop together.

Interpersonal process and relational depth. Reflecting on session dynamics, attuning to rupture and repair, exploring parallel process, and deepening your use of self in the therapeutic relationship.

Feminist, multicultural, and systemic frameworks. Attending to power, identity, positionality, and the broader social and institutional context shaping your clients’ lives and your clinical work.

Depth-oriented perspectives. Exploring meaning, narrative, defenses, and the patterns beneath the presenting concern.

Body-based and nervous system awareness. Honoring regulation, pacing, somatic experience, and how stress and activation show up for both you and your clients in the room.

Your Supervisor

Dr. Joel Muller is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Illinois who has provided clinical supervision across private practice, university counseling centers, and doctoral training programs. His supervisory work spans individual and group formats with practicum students, doctoral externs, postdoctoral fellows, and licensed clinicians.

His supervision draws from Interpersonal Process Theory, the Scientist-Practitioner-Advocate model, and social justice frameworks. Before founding Lumara Integrative Health, he held leadership roles in clinical training program development and clinical operations, which deepened his understanding of how training environments and institutional systems shape the clinicians working within them.

He supervises across a range of clinical areas, including chronic illness, anxiety, ADHD, neurodivergence, trauma, identity development, and relational dynamics. He brings particular attention to the intersection of clinical skill-building, professional identity, and sustainable practice.
