Collaborative, trauma-informed mental health care and psychological testing for adults navigating chronic illness, anxiety, and the long-term impact of stress and trauma.

Lumara Integrative Health provides integrative psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological testing for adults across Illinois. We specialize in the intersection of mental health and complex medical concerns, drawing from trauma-informed, somatic, evidence-based, and culturally responsive approaches for whole-person care.

We prioritize thoughtful communication and warm handoffs to ensure smooth coordination with referring providers.

Collaborative Care Philosophy

I work from the belief that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected. Many clients navigating chronic illness and medical complexity benefit most from coordinated care across disciplines.

This often looks like:

  • Thoughtful handoffs and mutual updates (with client consent)
  • Acknowledging how medical experiences intersect with identity, stress, and trauma
  • Prioritizing psychological care that complements medical treatment rather than competing with it

Referring providers can expect clear communication, respect for your clinical role, and a focus on patient autonomy.

When to Refer for Therapy

Therapy referrals are appropriate for adults (18+) experiencing:

  • Chronic health conditions or complex medical needs: autoimmune, inflammatory, post-viral, endocrine, gastrointestinal, environmentally linked illnesses (e.g., mold illness or MCS), and pain-related concerns
  • Anxiety, panic, or persistent health-related stress: including illness anxiety or medical-procedure stress
  • Functional somatic symptoms: unexplained physical complaints with psychological contributors
  • ADHD: particularly when co-occurring with anxiety, mood difficulties, or chronic illness
  • Stress-related or trauma concerns: including complex PTSD or dissociation
  • Grief, burnout, or identity-related life transitions
  • Mood or emotional concerns: depression, adjustment stress, or emotional dysregulation

When to Refer for Psychological Testing

Psychological testing referrals are appropriate for adults who would benefit from:

  • Comprehensive ADHD evaluation, including differential diagnosis from anxiety, depression, trauma, or health-related cognitive changes
  • Clarification of attention, memory, executive functioning, or processing speed concerns
  • Cognitive assessment in the context of chronic illness, fatigue, or stress
  • Documentation to support workplace or academic accommodations
  • Guidance on treatment direction when the clinical picture is unclear

Testing includes a clinical interview (telehealth), in-person testing in Chicago, a comprehensive written report (typically 8 to 12 pages), and a feedback session. For more detail, see the Psychological Testing page.

How to Refer

Providers must confirm that the client has consented to share their information prior to referral.

Frequently Asked Questions

Once a referral is received, I reach out directly to the client to schedule a brief consultation or intake. If they decide to move forward, we begin care within my availability window. I confirm receipt with the referring provider when appropriate and with client consent. If the client does not respond to outreach, I follow up once more after 7 to 10 days. If there is still no response, the referral is considered closed. Referring providers can request updates at any point.

For clients referred for psychological testing, a comprehensive written evaluation report is provided, typically 8 to 12 pages, covering background, testing results, diagnostic impressions, and treatment recommendations.

For therapy clients, brief clinical summaries or coordination notes may be provided when appropriate and with written authorization. These typically include presenting concerns, focus of treatment, relevant progress updates, and coordination recommendations.

I do not provide forensic evaluations, FMLA or disability determinations, or legal documentation. Clients requiring these services can be referred to appropriate specialists.

My practice focuses on outpatient psychotherapy and psychological testing for adults. We are not a crisis stabilization or higher level of care setting. Clients needing more intensive support, such as intensive outpatient programs (IOP), partial hospitalization (PHP), or inpatient stabilization, may be referred to alternate services. I do not provide acute emergency support, medication management, or primary care services.

If a client is seeking evaluation specifically for legal proceedings or disability litigation, I may not be the best fit and can provide referrals.

Yes. I collaborate with PCPs, specialists, functional and integrative clinicians, and other providers to support cohesive treatment planning. Coordination typically occurs through secure messaging, brief update calls, or shared documentation. The goal is to complement medical care and to ensure treatment plans are aligned for the client’s overall wellbeing.
